SKU CH-8RCR-FP2YA

Adhesive-lined polyolefin tubing shrinks 2.5:1 to seal and protect 16–12 AWG wires from –67 °F to 230 °F

  • Color familyBlack
  • Product typeCable Management & Conduit
  • Adhesive lining seals connections against moisture and contaminants
  • Thin-wall polyolefin shrinks 2.5:1 for a tight fit on 16–12 AWG wire
  • Semi-rigid material resists acids and alkalis in harsh environments
  • Operates from -67 °F to 230 °F for wide temperature tolerance
  • 600 V dielectric strength insulates reliably in electrical applications

Heat-shrink tubing for 16–12 AWG wires

This adhesive-lined polyolefin tubing shrinks at a 2.5:1 ratio from 0.25 in down to 0.08 in inner diameter. Each 6 in piece achieves a 0.05 in wall thickness after shrinking and withstands temperatures from -67 to 230 °F. The material resists acids and alkalis and provides 600 V dielectric strength. Minimum shrink temperature is 275 °F.

Suited for small-gauge automotive and marine splices

Technicians sealing 16 to 12 AWG connections in harsh environments will benefit from the adhesive bond and chemical resistance. Installers needing larger diameters, higher shrink ratios or flame-retardant ratings should look at other products. The semi-rigid profile also limits flexibility in tight bends.

Ten-piece pack simplifies small jobs

The individual 6 in pieces let you cut exact lengths without waste from a spool. Adhesive lining activates during shrinking to create a moisture-resistant seal around each splice. No extra sealant or tape is required for the finished connection.

Questions about this item

What wire gauges must I already have for the 0.25 in inside diameter to seal properly?

The tubing is rated for 16 AWG to 12 AWG wire, so those gauges must be present before shrinking.

Will the 2.5:1 shrink ratio still seal properly if I apply it over an older 16 AWG splice?

Yes, the 2.5:1 ratio shrinks the 0.25 in inside diameter down to 0.08 in, which fits 16 AWG splices within the rated range.

How can I confirm the 0.05 in wall thickness is achieved after shrinking?

Apply heat until the tubing reaches at least 275 °F; the adhesive will flow and the wall will settle to the specified 0.05 in thickness.
