Cold-shrink EPDM rubber splice kit covers 2 AWG to 750 MCM wire, shrinks from 1.6 in to .4 in ID, 5.25 in long, rated to 266 °F
The 3M QSLV-M cold shrink splice kit fits wire sizes from 2 AWG up to 750 MCM and comes as an individual piece. It is designed for electricians who need a quick, tool-free splice on medium-voltage cables. The kit uses EPDM rubber tubing that shrinks without a heat source. Buyers who require a heat-shrink alternative or a kit with multiple pieces will not be served by this product.
The tubing is UV-light-resistant and rated for a continuous temperature range of -40 degrees to 266 degrees F. It has a dielectric strength of 1,000 V and contains no flame-retardant additive or adhesive lining. The material contracts from a 1.6 in inner diameter before shrinking to a 0.4 in inner diameter after shrinking. Installers needing a flame-retardant or adhesive-lined sleeve must look elsewhere.
Each package contains a single black splice tube measuring 5.25 in long. No additional connectors, sealants or installation tools are bundled with the kit. The cold-shrink design eliminates the need for a torch or heat gun during installation. Users who expect a multi-piece assortment or integrated connector hardware will need to source those separately.

Slide the pre-expanded tube over the prepared joint, then unwind the core smoothly; the step often missed is ensuring the core is removed in one continuous motion so the EPDM rubber grips evenly at the 0.4 in recovered diameter.
The EPDM rubber splice is UV-light-resistant and rated from -40 to 266 Degrees F; it requires no scheduled maintenance and is replaced only if physical damage or insulation breakdown occurs.
The maximum temperature rating of 266 Degrees F is the first limit; continuous exposure above this degrades the EPDM material and dielectric strength of 1,000 V.
