Cold-shrink EPDM rubber splice kit covers 8 AWG to 3/0 AWG wire at 1,000 V without heat or adhesive
The 3M QSLV-M(8-2/0) is a cold shrink splice kit designed for electrical professionals joining or repairing cables. It uses EPDM rubber tubing that contracts without heat tools, forming a reliable insulation layer. The kit suits field work where open flame or hot-air equipment is impractical. Each piece is supplied individually for single-splice jobs.
The tubing accepts wire sizes from 8 AWG up to 3/0 AWG with a pre-shrink inner diameter of 0.75 in and a recovered diameter of 0.2 in. It is rated for 1 000 V dielectric strength and operates from -40 degrees to 266 degrees F. The medium-wall EPDM material resists UV light but is not flame-retardant and carries no adhesive lining. Headroom ends at the 3/0 AWG maximum and the 1 000 V limit.
This kit upgrades installations that previously required a torch or heat gun to activate shrink tubing. The cold-shrink method saves time and removes fire risk in confined spaces. The jump is worth it when working on live-site repairs, overhead lines, or any location where carrying heating equipment is difficult. It does not suit applications needing adhesive-sealed or flame-retardant sleeves.

The kit accommodates 8 AWG to 3/0 AWG wire sizes with a 0.75 in inner diameter before shrinking down to 0.2 in after installation.
After shrinking, the EPDM rubber sleeve conforms tightly to the cable, providing a 1,000 V dielectric strength rating across the -40 to 266 Degrees F temperature range.
Each piece is an individual cold shrink splice kit with UV light-resistant EPDM rubber tubing; no separate connector or adhesive liner is included.
