Flame-Retardant Structural Tape

3M Scotch 5958FR VHB Tape is a double-sided, pressure-sensitive acrylic foam tape supplied in a 15 ft roll. It bonds high, medium and medium/low surface energy substrates and replaces mechanical fasteners in structural applications. The conformable foam core provides cushioning, damping and impact resistance.

Flame Retardancy for Regulated Environments

The tape meets flame-retardant requirements often specified in aerospace and other regulated industries. Its modified acrylic adhesive and closed-cell foam construction deliver durable bonds that resist solvents and moisture. The red PE film release liner protects the adhesive until application.

Suited for High-Strength Bonding Needs

Engineers specifying structural bonds in interior or exterior assemblies will benefit from the viscoelastic foam’s stress-relaxing properties. Buyers who need a non-flame-retardant variant or a different roll length should look at other VHB tapes in the 5952 family.

Questions about this item

How does the 15 ft length translate when I cut it for actual joints?

The roll gives you 15 ft of continuous tape; you cut the exact strip length each joint needs, so total joint count depends on your design.

What does the 5952 family designation tell me about substrate adhesion?

It means the 5958FR formulation adheres to the broadest range of substrates in the line, including most powder-coated paints and medium-to-low surface energy materials.

Will the 3 inch core fit my standard desktop dispenser?

The tape is wound on a 3 inch diameter core, which matches most benchtop dispensers designed for industrial-width rolls.
