  • Built-in surge protection removes need for extra suppressors
  • Mirror N.C. auxiliary contact enhances safety monitoring

Product identity

The ABB AF40-30-11-13 is a three-pole IEC contactor rated at 42 A for controlling power circuits up to 600 V AC and 240 V DC. It suits industrial panels and motor-control cabinets that need a compact screw-mounted switching device.

Installation checks

Verify that your control supply falls within the 100...250 V AC/DC coil range and that the load does not exceed the 42 A rating. Confirm the panel has space for front screw mounting and that the auxiliary contact configuration 1/1 matches your control wiring.

Suitability

Ideal for engineers standardising on a single coil to cover worldwide control voltages from 100...250 V AC/DC without spare coil stock. Not suited for applications requiring higher current ratings, different pole counts, or coil voltages outside the 100...250 V AC/DC window.

Questions about this item

Does the AF40-30-11-13 contactor arrive ready to install or are auxiliary blocks and surge suppressors sold separately?

The unit includes one normally closed auxiliary contact built in and has integrated surge protection, so no separate suppressor is required.

How do I decide between the 100-250 V AC/DC coil and other AF40 coil variants?

Choose this version when your control-circuit voltage falls anywhere between 100 and 250 V AC or DC; other AF40 models cover different ranges.

What does the 42 A rating mean when the contactor is mounted in a motor starter enclosure?

It indicates the maximum operational current for AC-3 duty at up to 600 V AC, suitable for controlling three-phase motors within that limit.
