What this adapter does

This four-pack of black USB-C to Micro USB adapters lets you charge and sync older Micro USB phones and tablets using a standard USB-C cable. It is aimed at owners of legacy Samsung Galaxy and LG devices who want to reduce cable clutter without replacing their hardware.

The specification that decides fit

Each adapter accepts a USB-C male plug on one side and presents a Micro USB male connector on the other, supporting up to 3 A charging current and 480 Mbps data transfer under the USB 2.0 standard. OTG, video output, USB-C headphones and the original iPhone USB-C cable are explicitly not supported.

Installing and common issues

Plug the Micro USB end into the device, then connect a USB-C cable to the adapter and a charger or computer; the reversible Type-C shell is rated for over 10,000 insertions. The most frequent problem is attempting to use the adapter with a USB-C phone or an OTG peripheral, neither of which will work.

Questions about this item

What does the 3 A rating mean when I plug this adapter into my phone?

It allows up to 3 A of current from a compatible USB-C charger and cable, so charging speed will match the charger's capability rather than being limited by the adapter.

The adapter is described as USB 2.0 — what does that cap in everyday use?

Data transfers top out at 480 Mbps, which is the maximum for USB 2.0, and the adapter does not support video output or OTG functions.

Will the Micro USB male end fit my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge without forcing it?

Yes, the Micro USB male connector is designed for devices like the Galaxy S7 edge and the aluminum shell is rated for over 10,000 insertions.
