Brass padlock with hardened-steel shackle and three-pin cylinder for weather-resistant security
The Abus keyed padlock uses a solid brass body measuring 1-1/4 inches wide and high with a 1/2 inch thickness. A 3/16 inch diameter hardened steel shackle provides 9/16 inch clearance height and width. The three-pin tumbler cylinder operates with a different key for each lock and requires no control key registration. Weather resistant construction suits garden gates, sheds and storage boxes.
Brass resists corrosion better than uncoated steel bodies when mounted outside year-round. The keyed mechanism removes the hassle of forgotten combinations and allows quick access without dial alignment. Hardened steel shackle resists cutting attempts more effectively than standard shackles on entry-level locks. The jump is worth it when a gate or shed needs reliable all-season security with simple key management.
The open shackle design slides through any hasp or chain link with at least a 3/16 inch hole diameter. No tools are required beyond the supplied keys. The rectangular body sits flat against mounting plates without rocking. What usually goes wrong is debris jamming the keyway; occasional lubrication keeps the three pins moving freely. Ensure the shackle clicks fully home to engage the locking pawl.

The shackle is 3/16 in. thick and clears 9/16 in. in height, so the hasp or chain link must accept that diameter and allow at least that much vertical space.
Insert the shackle through the hasp or chain, push down until it clicks, then turn the key to verify the locking bolts engage; the missed step is confirming the shackle is fully seated before turning the key.
Apply a light PTFE or graphite lubricant into the keyway and shackle holes once or twice a year; wipe salt or grit off the brass to prevent surface oxidation.
