Speaker set and intended use

The Acoustic Audio AA40CB is a wired four-speaker bookshelf set designed for indoor surround sound, whole-house audio or commercial installations. It suits listeners who want passive speakers driven by an existing amplifier or receiver with raw wire outputs.

Capacity and headroom

Each channel requires an amplifier delivering between 20 and 250 watts, and the system is rated at 2000 watts peak across the four cabinets. Frequency response reaches from 94 Hz to 20 kHz at 94 dB sensitivity, so deep sub-bass below 94 Hz will not be reproduced.

Build and day-to-day connectors

Black ABS sealed cabinets measure 5.75 by 15.625 by 5.75 inches each and house two 4-inch polypropylene woofers plus a 1-inch soft dome tweeter. Spring-loaded raw wire terminals accept CL3 or standard speaker cable, and the passive design means no mains connection is needed at the speakers.

Questions about this item

Will these four bookshelf speakers work with my older stereo receiver that only has raw speaker-wire outputs?

Yes — they are passive speakers designed to connect directly to any amplifier or receiver with raw speaker-wire outputs, provided the amp delivers between 20 and 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms.

How can I confirm the speakers are performing correctly once I have them wired up?

Play music or test tones through each channel; you should hear clear output from both 4-inch polypropylene woofers and the 1-inch soft-dome tweeter in every cabinet with no distortion at normal listening levels.

What comes in the box and what extra items do I need to buy?

The package contains four passive bookshelf speakers and an instruction manual; you must supply your own CL3-rated or standard raw speaker wire to run from the amplifier to the spring-loaded connectors on each speaker.
