Outdoor 8MP Zoom Dome with 4.3x Optical Range

The ACTi A817 is an outdoor dome network camera delivering 8 megapixel resolution at up to 30 frames per second. It supports H.265 Adaptive Stream, H.264 and MJPEG compression with simultaneous triple streaming. Integrated IR LEDs provide night vision up to 40 metres and Extreme WDR reaches 140 dB for high-contrast scenes.

Verify PoE Class 3 and 10/100 Ethernet

This camera requires a PoE Class 3 (IEEE 802.3af) power source or a separate DC 12 V supply drawing 12.95 W. The single RJ-45 pigtail connector operates at 10/100 Base-T speeds, so confirm your switch ports and cabling support that link rate. IPv4/v6 and the listed protocols must be allowed on the network segment.

Sustained 4K Streaming at 30 fps with Triple Streams

Under continuous load the camera maintains 30 fps at 3840 x 2160 resolution while encoding three independent streams. H.265 Adaptive Stream reduces bit-rate compared with standard H.265, easing long-term storage and bandwidth demand. 2D+3D digital noise reduction and 140 dB WDR preserve image detail during extended day-night cycles.

Questions about this item

What does the ACTi A817 include and what must I buy separately?

The camera ships as a complete outdoor dome unit with an integrated 4.3x zoom lens, IR LEDs rated to 40 m, and a built-in microphone plus line-level audio in and out. It draws power from PoE Class 3 or a DC 12 V supply, neither of which is included. A mounting bracket and any NVR or VMS licences are also separate purchases.

Which resolution mode should I select on the ACTi A817 for my recording needs?

The sensor captures up to 3864 x 2192 pixels. For 4K Ultra HD recording choose 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps; for lower storage use 2592 x 1944, 2048 x 1536 or 1920 x 1080, all at 30 fps. The camera can stream three resolutions simultaneously so you can record high detail while viewing a lighter stream.

What does the 140 dB WDR figure mean for real-world footage on the ACTi A817?

Extreme WDR at 140 dB lets the camera balance extremely bright and dark areas in a single scene — for example a sunlit entrance and a shaded interior — without blown highlights or crushed shadows, producing usable detail across the full dynamic range.
