Adafruit

Adafruit PVC Tubing 6mm ID 1m Engineering Development Tool

SKU CH-S9KJ-B5XDG

One metre of 6 mm internal-diameter PVC tubing for submersible-pump watering or fountain projects

  • Product typePrototyping Products
  • 1 metre length suits bench-top fluid routing
  • 6 mm bore matches common hobby pump outlets
  • PVC construction tolerates continuous water exposure
  • Rated for non-potable uses such as plant watering
  • Easy to hand-cut for custom circuit layouts

Purpose and suitability

This 1 metre length of PVC tubing has a 6 mm internal diameter and an 8 mm external diameter. It is designed to connect to simple submersible pumps for plant watering or fountain projects. The material is not food safe, so it should not be used for drinking water or edible applications.

Critical specification

The 6 mm internal diameter is the single dimension that determines whether this tubing fits your pump outlet and project fittings. Match this size exactly to the barb or connector on your submersible pump to ensure a secure, leak-free connection.

Handling and practical notes

The PVC construction cuts easily with standard tools, allowing quick custom lengths for routing around containers or fountain features. In normal use the tubing remains flexible at room temperature and adds negligible flow restriction to low-pressure pump systems.

Questions about this item

How much flow can the 6 mm internal diameter deliver in a small pump build?

The 6 mm bore matches the outlet on many hobby submersible pumps and handles the low-pressure flow rates those pumps produce without restriction.

Will the PVC material stand up to continuous immersion in a fountain?

PVC resists water and common additives used in decorative fountains, but it is not rated for potable water or food contact.

What size barbed fitting or clamp do I need for the 8 mm outside diameter?

Standard 8 mm barbs or 6–8 mm hose clamps fit the 8 mm OD securely; the tubing cuts cleanly with scissors for custom lengths.
