Built for heavy compute

This workstation pairs a 24-core Threadripper 9960X with 256GB DDR5 ECC memory and an RTX 5090 32GB GPU. It targets engineers, researchers and creators who need maximum single-box throughput for simulation, rendering or large-model training. The platform uses a WRX90E-SAGE SE motherboard in a full-tower Corsair 7000D Airflow chassis.

Sustained load behaviour

A 360mm liquid cooler and a 1600W 80+ Titanium PSU keep the CPU near its 5.3GHz boost during long renders or batch jobs. Dual 4TB NVMe drives deliver up to 7450 MB/s reads and 6900 MB/s writes without throttling. The 10TB SATA drive adds high-capacity bulk storage for datasets and archives.

Upgrade context

It replaces older Threadripper or dual-socket boxes that lack DDR5 bandwidth and 128MB L3 cache. The jump is worth it when workloads exceed 128GB RAM or need GPU memory beyond 24GB. Buyers who need more than two GPUs or additional PCIe lanes should look at rackmount platforms.

Questions about this item

How loud is the 360 mm liquid cooler and 140 mm case fans under sustained load?

The 360 mm Quiet Edition AIO and three 140 mm fans are designed for low noise; the 1600 W 80+ Titanium PSU also uses a quiet 140 mm fan.

Does the WRX90E-SAGE SE motherboard need any special power cables from the PSU?

The Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 supplies all required EPS and PCIe connectors for the Threadripper 9960X and RTX 5090.

Will my existing SATA III hard drives work with the four onboard SATA 6 Gb/s ports?

Yes, the four SATA 6 Gb/s ports accept standard SATA III drives alongside the installed 10 TB HDD.
