Core configuration

This workstation pairs a 32-core AMD Threadripper PRO 9975WX running at 4.0 GHz with 64 GB of DDR5 ECC memory and an Nvidia RTX 5090 32 GB graphics card. It targets professionals who need high thread counts and large GPU memory for rendering, simulation or AI workloads.

Storage interface limits

Three Samsung 990 PRO NVMe drives deliver up to 7450 MB/s reads and 6900 MB/s writes over PCIe 4.0 x4, while a 10 TB SATA III hard drive adds bulk capacity at the slower SATA III ceiling. The motherboard provides four M.2 slots and eight SATA 6 Gb/s ports, so the practical ceiling is the PCIe 4.0 x4 lane width per NVMe device.

Deciding specification

The 32-core Threadripper PRO 9975WX with 128 MB L3 cache and boost up to 5.4 GHz is the single figure that determines whether this system matches a workload; buyers who need more cores or higher single-thread frequency must look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I choose between the three NVMe SSDs installed in this workstation?

The first M.2 slot holds a 2 TB Samsung 990 PRO and the second and third each hold a 4 TB Samsung 990 PRO, all PCIe 4.0 x4 with up to 7 450 MB/s read and 6 900 MB/s write.

What does the 32-core Threadripper PRO 9975WX deliver in a real workload?

Thirty-two cores and sixty-four threads at 4.0 GHz base with up to 5.4 GHz boost and 128 MB L3 cache, cooled by a 360 mm liquid cooler for sustained multi-threaded performance.

What interface do the NVMe drives use and what does it cap in practice?

Each Samsung 990 PRO runs on PCIe 4.0 x4 through the M.2 slots, limiting sequential throughput to roughly 7 450 MB/s read and 6 900 MB/s write.
