Threadripper PRO 9985WX Workstation

This 64-core workstation pairs an AMD Threadripper PRO 9985WX running at 3.2 GHz with 256 GB of DDR5 ECC memory. The platform targets engineers, researchers and content creators who need sustained multi-thread throughput for simulation, rendering or large-model training. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed on a 2 TB NVMe boot drive.

Sustained 64-core throughput

A 360 mm liquid cooler keeps the CPU near its 5.4 GHz boost ceiling during long compute jobs, while three Samsung 990 PRO NVMe drives deliver up to 7 450 MB/s sequential reads without throttling. The 1 200 W 80 Plus Gold supply maintains stable rails when all 128 threads and the RTX 5070 12 GB GPU draw full power simultaneously.

Thermals noise and power

The Corsair 5000D Frame case uses front and rear 120 mm fans alongside a quiet-edition 140 mm PSU fan to move air at low acoustic levels. Liquid cooling isolates CPU heat from the GPU chamber, so the RTX 5070 runs at stock temperatures. Total system draw stays within the Gold-rated supply’s efficiency band during typical workstation workloads.

Questions about this item

How loud is the 360 mm liquid cooler and 140 mm PSU fan when the 64-core Threadripper runs all day?

The CPU uses a 360 mm Quiet Edition AIO and the 1200 W PSU has an ultra-quiet 140 mm fan, so noise stays low even under sustained multi-core load.

Does the workstation need any extra parts such as a monitor, keyboard or OS licence to start working?

Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed; only a display and input devices are required to begin using the system.

Can I keep my older SATA III hard drives and USB 3.0 peripherals with the TRX50 motherboard?

Yes, the board provides eight SATA 6 Gb/s ports and multiple USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers for legacy drives and devices.
