Threadripper PRO 9985WX 64-Core Workstation

This liquid-cooled desktop workstation centres on a 64-core AMD Threadripper PRO 9985WX running at 3.2 GHz with boost up to 5.4 GHz and 256 MB L3 cache. It ships with 256 GB of DDR5 ECC memory on a Gigabyte TRX50 AERO D motherboard, a 2 TB plus 4 TB NVMe RAID-ready pair of Samsung 990 PRO drives, a 10 TB SATA hard drive and an Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB GPU. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed in a Corsair 5000D FRAME case powered by a 1200 W 80 PLUS Gold supply.

AI-ready multi-threaded compute platform

The 128-thread CPU and ECC memory suit simulation, rendering and large-model inference workloads that demand sustained all-core frequency and memory integrity. Dual USB4 ports and four M.2 slots support high-speed peripherals and future storage expansion. Builders who need more than two LAN ports, integrated baseboard management or a certified ISV-qualified chassis should evaluate rackmount alternatives.

256 GB DDR5 ECC memory capacity

The installed 256 GB of DDR5 ECC across the TRX50 platform determines maximum dataset size for in-memory compute and virtualization density. Buyers whose workloads exceed this capacity must plan a memory upgrade before deployment.

Questions about this item

Does the 64-core Threadripper PRO 9985WX require a specific motherboard socket to operate?

Yes, the processor uses Socket sTR5 and is installed on the GIGABYTE TRX50 AERO D motherboard included in this workstation.

Can the 10TB SATA III hard drive and the two Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSDs be used together in the same system?

Yes, the motherboard provides four M.2 connectors and eight SATA 6Gb/s ports, so all three drives operate simultaneously.

How can I confirm the 360mm liquid cooler is keeping the CPU within its thermal limits after assembly?

Monitor the CPU temperature in Windows 11 Pro or BIOS; the cooler is designed for the 64-core Threadripper PRO 9985WX and its 256MB L3 cache.
