32-core Threadripper workstation

This liquid-cooled desktop pairs a 32-core AMD Threadripper 9970X processor with 256GB of DDR5 ECC memory and an Nvidia RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell graphics card equipped with 96GB of video memory. It ships with Windows 11 Pro installed and targets professionals who need high core counts and large GPU memory for simulation, rendering or AI workloads.

PCIe 4.0 NVMe and SATA III storage limits

The two Samsung 990 PRO SSDs operate over PCIe 4.0 x4, delivering sequential reads up to 7450 MB/sec and writes up to 6900 MB/sec. The 10TB hard drive uses a SATA III interface with a 256MB cache. Combined they provide 6TB of NVMe capacity and 10TB of mechanical storage without requiring additional drive cages.

sTR5 motherboard and 1600W PSU requirements

The Gigabyte TRX50 AERO D motherboard uses the sTR5 socket and offers four M.2 slots, eight SATA 6Gb/s ports, two USB4 Type-C ports and dual LAN. The Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 power supply delivers 1600W at 80+ Titanium efficiency. Verify that your rack or desk space accommodates the 520 x 245 x 520 mm Corsair 5000D FRAME case and that the 360mm AIO radiator has clearance for its mounting location.

Questions about this item

How should I choose between the 2TB and 4TB NVMe drives for my primary workload?

Use the 2TB Samsung 990 PRO as the OS and active-project drive; its 7450 MB/s reads keep boot and application launches fast. Reserve the 4TB 990 PRO for current project files and scratch space so both drives share the same 6900 MB/s write ceiling.

What does the Threadripper 9970X 5.4 GHz boost mean for sustained compile or render jobs?

The 32-core processor can hit 5.4 GHz on lighter threads, but the 360 mm liquid cooler is sized to hold higher all-core frequencies longer, so multi-hour builds stay closer to peak throughput than with air cooling.

What bandwidth does the TRX50 chipset provide to the two Samsung 990 PRO SSDs?

Each drive connects via PCIe 4.0 x4 through the motherboard M.2 slots, so both can run at their rated 7450 MB/s read and 6900 MB/s write simultaneously without chipset contention.
