Custom Threadripper PRO workstation

This liquid-cooled tower pairs a 24-core AMD Threadripper PRO 9965WX with 128GB DDR5 ECC memory and an Nvidia RTX 5080 16GB GPU. It targets professionals who need high core counts and GPU acceleration for rendering, simulation or AI workloads.

Thermals noise and power

A 360 mm quiet-edition AIO cools the CPU while a 1200 W 80 PLUS Gold PSU with a 140 mm fan delivers power. The Corsair 5000D Frame case uses front and rear 120 mm fans to move air through the chassis.

Storage capacity and speed

Two Samsung 990 PRO drives provide 6 TB of NVMe storage with sequential reads up to 7450 MB/s and writes up to 6900 MB/s. A 10 TB SATA HDD adds bulk capacity for project archives.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 360mm liquid cooler in the Corsair 5000D Frame case, and which step is often done wrong?

Mount the 360mm radiator to the top or front panel using the included brackets, then attach the 120mm fans. The step people miss is setting the fan orientation so airflow matches the case's front-to-rear path.

What maintenance will the 360mm AIO and 10TB HDD need later?

The AIO is a sealed unit and requires no coolant changes; dust the 120mm and 140mm fans every few months. The 10TB SATA HDD has no user-serviceable parts — monitor SMART data and replace the drive if reallocated sectors appear.

What limit appears first when the Threadripper PRO 9965WX runs sustained loads?

The 360mm AIO's heat-rejection capacity is the first bottleneck; once coolant temperature stabilises, the 24-core CPU will reduce boost clocks to stay within its thermal envelope.
