18-Key Waterproof USB POS Keypad

The Adesso AKB-618UB is a compact numeric keypad built for point-of-sale and data-entry environments. Its 18-key layout connects through a wired USB interface for plug-and-play operation on Windows and Mac systems. An ergonomic design integrates arm and wrist support to reduce strain during extended use. Antimicrobial protection and waterproof sealing suit high-traffic or spill-prone workstations.

Check USB Port and OS Compatibility

Verify that the host system has an available USB Type-A port and supports standard HID keyboard input. No driver installation is required for basic operation on supported Windows or macOS versions. The 1.10-inch height and 6.50-inch width footprint should fit the intended desk or counter space. Confirm that a 6-foot cable reach matches the distance to the host device.

Quiet Membrane Switches and Spill Resistance

Quiet membrane switches deliver low-noise keystrokes rated for 5 million cycles per key. Waterproof silicone sealing protects the internal circuit board from accidental liquid spills and moisture. The unit draws power directly from the USB bus with no external adapter needed. At 0.57 lbs it remains stable on the work surface during rapid numeric entry.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the AKB-618UB and do I need to buy a cable separately?

The package includes the waterproof keypad, a 6-foot USB cable attached to the unit, and a quick-start guide; no extra cable is required.

The spec sheet lists only an 18-key version — is that the only layout available for this model?

Yes, the AKB-618UB is offered solely as an 18-key numeric keypad; there are no alternative key-count options for this model number.

What does the 5-million-keystroke rating mean for daily use on a busy counter?

At 5 million rated cycles per key, the membrane switches are built to withstand heavy repetitive entry over an extended service life in retail or hospitality environments.
