Classroom Heavy-Duty Sharpener

The AFMAT PS13 is a corded electric sharpener built for high-volume use in schools, offices and studios. It accepts standard graphite and coloured pencils from 6.5 to 8 mm and starts automatically when a pencil is inserted. A reinforced helical blade and upgraded motor are rated for over 10000 sharpening cycles. The unit carries UL listing under model number S230 for electrical safety.

Black Steel Housing with US Plug

The sharpener weighs 1.22 kilograms and measures 10.3 by 11.6 by 24.8 centimetres, giving it a stable footprint on a desk or counter. A single shavings tray collects waste and can be removed for emptying when full. Power is supplied through a fixed US 120 V 60 Hz cord, so no batteries or adapters are required. The all-black finish resists visible wear in shared environments.

Fast Cycle with Thermal Protection

Each pencil sharpens in roughly 3 to 5 seconds, and the motor can handle batches of up to 100 pencils before heat buildup triggers an automatic pause. If the unit overheats, it stops and needs 20 to 30 minutes to cool down. Jams from soft-core leads can be cleared with a thin metal pin. Normal operation stays within the 120 V supply without special circuit requirements.

Questions about this item

What pencil diameters does the 6.5-8 mm helical blade accept?

It sharpens standard No.2 graphite and coloured pencils from 6.5 mm to 8 mm diameter; extra-soft cores are not recommended.

How much desk space does the 10.3 × 11.6 cm footprint need?

The unit measures 10.3 cm wide by 11.6 cm deep and stands 24.8 cm tall; allow clearance above for the shavings tray.

How do I install the PS13 and what step is often missed?

Plug the 120 V US cord into a grounded outlet, press the pencil in until the motor starts, then release when the sound changes; forgetting to empty the shavings box when full is the common oversight.
