Travel VPN Router with OpenWrt

The GL.iNet GL-MT1300 (Beryl) is a pocket-sized AC1300 wireless router built for secure travel use. It runs a dual-core MT7621A processor at 880MHz with 256MB DDR3L memory and 32MB flash. OpenVPN, WireGuard and Tor come pre-installed on OpenWrt 19.07, and a hardware toggle switches VPN or Tor on and off.

For portable privacy, not high-density homes

Travellers and remote workers who need a private Wi-Fi network from hotel or café connections will appreciate the repeater mode and 30-plus VPN provider compatibility. The MicroSD slot accepts cards up to 512GB for local file storage. Buyers who need more than three Gigabit ports, higher wireless throughput or mesh roaming should look elsewhere.

AC1300 dual-band with three Gigabit ports

The router delivers 400Mbps on 2.4GHz and 867Mbps on 5GHz under the 802.11ac standard. Three 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet ports handle wired clients, while the USB 3.0 port supports tethering or external storage. Power comes via USB-C at 5V/3A.
