Albion Inc. 6 in Plate Caster with Brake

This 6 inch swivel plate caster carries a 400 lb load rating and uses a polyolefin wheel with a polyolefin core. The tread is non‑marking and shaped to a standard profile. A side brake locks the wheel in place when engaged. It is sold as a single wheel unit.

Replaces fixed or unbraked casters on carts

Upgrade when a swivel head and a brake are both required for steering control and stationary holding. The jump is worth it if the existing caster lacks a lock or cannot swivel. Do not choose this caster for applications that need a directional lock or a higher load capacity than 400 lb.

Polyolefin wheel on a plate mount with side brake

The polyolefin tread resists marking but can flatten under sustained heavy loads or high heat. The plate mount requires a flat mounting surface with the correct bolt pattern. The side brake acts on the wheel tread only and does not lock the swivel head. California Proposition 65 warnings apply for cancer and reproductive harm.

Questions about this item

What bolt pattern does the 6 in plate caster use for mounting?

The caster mounts with a standard plate bolt pattern; verify hole spacing on your equipment before drilling.

How do you engage the side brake on this swivel caster?

Press the side brake lever down firmly until it locks the wheel; a common mistake is not pushing it fully into the detent.

When should the polyolefin wheel be replaced on a 400 lb rated caster?

Replace the wheel when the tread shows flat spots, cracking, or no longer rolls smoothly under load.
