Alera Valencia File Pedestal

The Alera VA542822WA is a two-drawer file pedestal finished in Modern Walnut textured woodgrain laminate. It measures 28.50" x 15.63" x 20.50" and attaches beneath a worksurface rather than standing freely. The unit accepts both legal and letter-size documents and includes a lock to secure drawer contents.

Upgrading from mobile or open storage

This pedestal replaces rolling cabinets or open shelving that lack locking drawers or a fixed mounting point. The jump is worth it when you need permanent, secure filing integrated directly into a Valencia Series desk or credenza shell. Full-extension ball bearing slides provide complete access to files without the instability of a freestanding unit.

Suits fixed workstations needing secure filing

It suits offices building out a Valencia Series configuration who want matching aesthetics and lockable document storage. Buyers who need a mobile pedestal on casters or a freestanding cabinet for flexible placement should look elsewhere. The pedestal also requires a compatible Valencia shell for installation, so it does not work as a standalone piece.

Questions about this item

What clearance is needed under the worksurface for the 28.50" high pedestal?

The unit stands 28.50" tall and attaches beneath a worksurface, so the surface must sit at least that high from the floor to accommodate it.

How do the leveling glides adjust after the pedestal is screwed to the desk?

Turn each glide by hand or with a wrench until the cabinet sits level; the glides compensate for uneven floors after the unit is fastened to the worksurface.

When should the full-extension ball-bearing slides be lubricated?

Apply a light silicone spray to the slides only if drawers begin to bind; otherwise the factory lubrication lasts for the life of the pedestal.
