Adds TPM 2.0 via a 14-pin SPI header to enable Windows 11 upgrades on compatible ASUS ROG Strix motherboards
This Alphacool security module adds a discrete TPM 2.0 interface to compatible ASUS ROG Strix motherboards. It targets builders whose boards lack firmware TPM support but provide a 14-pin SPI header. The SLB9670 chip satisfies the Windows 11 requirement for a hardware trusted platform module. Installation is a simple header insertion on the listed models.
The module plugs directly into the 14pin-1 SPI bus header found on specific ROG Strix B560, B660 and Z590 Gaming WiFi models. It requires no extra cables, power connectors or case space beyond the header itself. By using the dedicated SPI interface it frees the CPU firmware TPM for other tasks or enables TPM where the firmware option is absent. Pin alignment must match the motherboard layout exactly.
With the SLB9670 fitted the system meets the TPM 2.0 prerequisite for Windows 11 alongside a 1 GHz 64-bit processor, 4 GB memory, 64 GB storage, UEFI Secure Boot and a DirectX 12 graphics card driving a 720p display. The module does not add storage, memory or processing capacity. It is not compatible with newer motherboards that already implement firmware TPM, all-in-one PCs or laptops.

No published specifications for this item yet.
The module has no moving parts or active cooling, so sustained use does not produce a thermal or power limit that would throttle its cryptographic operations.
It is a passive SPI device drawing only micro-watts from the 14-pin header, producing no audible noise and negligible heat during continuous operation.
A 14-pin SPI TPM header on a compatible ASUS ROG Strix B560, B660 or Z590 board is required; the pin-out must match the module’s 14pin-1 connector.
