Compact outdoor speaker

The Altec Lansing Baby Boom XL IMW270 in mint is a portable 2.0-channel speaker built for smartphones, tablets and laptops. It uses active amplification to produce deep bass and clear audio from a small enclosure. The IP67-rated housing is waterproof, snowproof and floats if dropped in water, making it suited for poolside, beach or campsite use. A built-in rechargeable battery delivers up to six hours of playtime per charge.

Carabiner clip and USB charging

A supplied carabiner clip lets the speaker attach to a backpack, belt loop or tent pole so it stays secure during hikes or paddle-board trips. Recharging is handled through a standard USB connection compatible with laptops, wall adapters or power banks, so no proprietary cable is required. The rugged exterior resists knocks and splashes while the clip keeps the unit within easy reach. Controls remain accessible even when the speaker is clipped to gear.

Bluetooth range up to one hundred feet

Bluetooth connectivity maintains a stable link up to one hundred feet without distortion, allowing the source device to stay packed away while the speaker plays. Pairing works with Android and iOS phones, tablets, PCs and laptops for quick setup. The 10-foot operating range noted in the specifications reflects typical close-proximity use, while the longer figure covers open-air line-of-sight conditions. Buyers who need multi-room Wi-Fi streaming or voice-assistant integration will not find those features here.

How far does the Bluetooth 100-foot range actually reach in practice?

The speaker maintains a stable connection up to 100 feet without distortion under typical conditions.

What does the IP67 rating mean for mounting or clipping the speaker outdoors?

IP67 certifies the unit is waterproof, snowproof and buoyant, so it can be clipped via the integrated carabiner to bags, kayaks or shower rails without risk of water damage.

How do I pair the speaker the first time, and what step do people often miss?
