Product type and intended users

The Amazon Basics AMZ-S6524A is a USB condenser microphone built for streaming, podcasting, voice conferencing and solo music recording. Its cardioid pickup pattern focuses on sound directly in front of the capsule while rejecting off-axis noise. The package includes a 360° adjustable desktop stand with a built-in shock absorber and a silicone rubber boot for vibration isolation. A one-tap mute button provides instant silencing during live sessions.

Capacity and headroom

A 14 mm diaphragm delivers high sensitivity rated at 75 dB with a matching 75 dB signal-to-noise ratio, giving clean capture for spoken word and moderate-level vocals. The 2.2 kΩ impedance suits direct USB connection without an external preamp. Very loud sources such as close-miked drums or brass may exceed the headroom, and the fixed cardioid pattern cannot be switched to omnidirectional or figure-8 for room ambience or interviews.

USB interface practical limits

Plug-and-play operation requires no drivers on Windows 7, 8, 10 or later and on Mac OS 10.10 or later, drawing power and transmitting audio over a single USB cable. The microphone detaches from the included stand and mounts on any standard 5/8 inch threaded boom arm or tripod. Audio quality and latency are bounded by the USB 2.0-class audio class implementation; professional multi-channel recording or ultra-low-latency monitoring will need a dedicated audio interface.

Questions about this item

Will the USB connection work with an older PC that only has USB 2.0 ports?

Yes, the microphone uses a standard USB data cable that is compatible with Windows 7, XP, 8, 10 or higher and Mac OS 10.10 or higher without extra drivers.

How can I confirm the cardioid pickup is isolating background noise as intended?

Speak into the front of the 14mm diaphragm while playing sound from the sides; the 75 dB signal-to-noise ratio means off-axis noise should be noticeably lower in your recording software.

Does the package include a boom arm or do I need to buy a 5/8 inch thread mount separately?

The box contains the microphone, a 360° adjustable desktop stand with built-in shock absorber and silicone boot, and a USB cable; a boom arm or floor stand with a standard 5/8 inch thread is not included.
