What this cable does and who needs it

This three-foot Cat 6 patch cable links computers, printers, routers, consoles or any RJ45 device to a wired LAN. It carries data at up to 1000 Mbps, ten times the 100 Mbps ceiling of Cat 5, so local file transfers and streaming stay fast and steady.

Check your ports and length before ordering

Verify that every device you plan to connect has a standard RJ45 jack; the cable will not fit proprietary or smaller connectors. Measure the run between outlets — three feet (0.9 m) suits tidy desk links, but longer runs up to 25 feet are available if the gap is wider.

Gold-plated contacts and everyday handling

Gold-plated RJ45 plugs resist corrosion and keep signal loss low over repeated insertions. The snagless boot protects the latch during routing behind furniture or through cable trays, so the connection stays secure when you move gear.
