Ambir Technology PS667-A3P 600 dpi specialized scanner

Product Identity

The Ambir PS667-A3P is a compact ID card scanner built for healthcare reception desks and insurance verification stations. It captures licenses and insurance cards in three seconds at 300 dpi grayscale, feeding images directly into athenaNet via the included AmbirScan software. Dual CMOS CIS sensors deliver 48-bit internal colour depth with 24-bit true colour output.

Build Integration

The unit connects through a USB 2.0 port using the supplied 1.8 metre Type-A to Mini-B cable and draws power from the bus, so no external adapter is required. Its 8.00 by 2.60 by 1.70 inch footprint and 0.70 lb weight leave desk space free for keyboards and patient forms. Mechanical paper sensing handles media up to 1.5 mm thick within a maximum scan area of 105 by 254 mm.

Upgrade Context

The scanner replaces flatbeds or multi-function printers that slow check-in queues and occupy larger footprints. Practices moving from manual photocopy entry or older single-sided feeders gain duplex-speed capture without adding workstation clutter. Facilities that do not use athenahealth or need document sizes beyond A6 should evaluate other form factors.
