Amcrest 8MP AI Dome Camera

The Amcrest IP8M-2693EW-AI is an 8-megapixel network dome camera that captures UltraHD 4K video at 3840x2160 resolution. It is designed for outdoor security installations that require AI-driven human and vehicle detection plus perimeter protection. The wide 108° viewing angle covers large areas with a single unit.

PoE installation with junction-box options

Power over Ethernet supplies both data and power through one cable, though a PoE injector or switch is not included. The dome mounts to compatible Amcrest junction boxes such as AMCPFA136, AMCPFB203W or AMCPFA152 for secure outdoor fitting. An IK10-rated vandal-resistant housing and IP67 weatherproofing protect the camera once it is mounted.

4K recording with 256 GB local storage

Dual H.265/H.264 compression reduces bandwidth while keeping 4K detail at 30 fps, or 20 fps when AI analytics are active. Night vision reaches 98.4 feet in low light thanks to the 1/2.8-inch CMOS sensor. Footage can be stored on a microSD card up to 256 GB, an Amcrest NVR, Synology or QNAP NAS, or Amcrest Cloud.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the camera is recording 4K at 30 fps after installation?

Open the Amcrest View app or Surveillance Pro software and check the live-view resolution setting; it should read 3840 × 2160 at 30 fps, dropping to 20 fps only when AI detection is active.

What accessories are included and what must I purchase separately?

The camera ships with all relevant mounting hardware and a 1-year warranty; a PoE injector or PoE switch and a microSD card up to 256 GB are not included and must be bought separately.

Which AI detection mode should I choose — face detection alone or the full human/vehicle/perimeter suite?

Face detection runs independently on the camera; human detection, vehicle detection and perimeter IVS rules also run on-camera, while facial recognition (search and authenticate) requires a compatible Amcrest AI NVR.
