Amcrest 4K 8MP PoE AI Camera

The Amcrest IP8M-2796EB-AI is an outdoor bullet camera that records UltraHD 4K video at 3840x2160 resolution. It uses a 1/2.8 inch 8MP progressive CMOS sensor and captures a 129° field of view. The unit requires a Power over Ethernet injector or switch, which is not included in the box.

Sustained 4K recording at 15fps

Continuous footage is encoded using dual H.265 and H.264 streams to reduce bandwidth and storage demands during long sessions. The IP67-rated metal housing protects internal components from dust and water ingress. Dual illumination combines a white LED for 49ft colour night vision with an IR LED for traditional monochrome coverage after dark.

Verify PoE infrastructure

A compliant PoE switch or injector must be present on the network to power the camera. Recording destinations such as a compatible NVR, microSD card, or Amcrest Cloud subscription should be configured in advance. The Amcrest View Pro app or Surveillance Pro software is needed for live viewing and playback management.

Questions about this item

Does the IP8M-2796EB-AI run hot or draw much power when recording 4K at 15fps around the clock?

The camera uses Power over Ethernet, so a single cable carries both data and the low-voltage power it needs; the IP67 metal housing passively dissipates heat without a fan.

What separate equipment must I already have to power and connect this PoE camera?

You need a PoE injector or a PoE-capable network switch; neither is included in the box.

Will the IP8M-2796EB-AI work with my existing NVR that only understands H.264 streams?

Yes, the camera supports dual H.265 and H.264 compression, so it can stream in the older codec your recorder expects.
