RC-108 K-Port Repeater Box

The RC-108 K-Port repeater box links two handheld radios to extend communication range beyond standard limits. It suits operators who need longer-distance contact without installing a fixed base station or powered repeater. The unit connects directly to the external mic and speaker ports of compatible handsets. No external power source is required for operation.

Passive Operation With Long Cables

The box operates passively, drawing no power and adding no fan noise or electrical load to the system. Two supplied cables measure approximately 190 cm in total length, giving flexibility when positioning the paired radios. The K-port connectors accept 2.5 mm and 3.5 mm plugs found on many Kenwood-style accessories. Installation only requires plugging the cables into the handheld units.

Extends Range Above 10 KM

The repeater enables two-way communication at distances above 10 km where terrain and radio power allow. It is designed for radios operating in the 400-470 MHz band with typical 5 W output. The jump is worthwhile when urban or obstructed environments cut direct range to 1-2 km. It does not suit users who need cross-band repeating, digital mode bridging or a powered amplifier for weaker handsets.

Questions about this item

How do I install the RC-108 repeater box with two handheld radios?

Connect each radio's 2.5 mm and 3.5 mm headset jacks to the K-Port cables; no external power supply is required and no radio modification is needed.

What maintenance will the repeater box need over time?

Inspect the 190 cm cables and K-Port connectors periodically for wear or corrosion; the unit itself has no internal batteries or moving parts to service.

What range limit appears first when using this repeater continuously?

The relay extends coverage above 10 km line-of-sight, but dense urban buildings will reduce effective distance to 1-2 km regardless of the repeater.
