12-outlet tower UPS delivering 1500 VA / 865 W with stepped sine wave, hot-swappable battery and RJ-11/RJ-45 line protection
The APC Back-UPS Pro BR1500GI is a tower-form uninterruptible power supply rated at 1500 VA and 865 W. It delivers 230 V stepped sine-wave output from its internal battery when mains power fails. Twelve IEC 320 C13 sockets provide six battery-backed outlets plus six surge-only outlets and two IEC jumpers for flexible equipment connection.
This unit fits desktop PCs, NAS devices, routers and modems that require continued operation during short outages. It also protects connected phone, fax, DSL and Ethernet lines through RJ-11 and RJ-45 surge ports. Environments that demand pure sine-wave output for sensitive loads or longer runtime than the internal battery provides should consider alternative topologies.
The inverter produces a stepped sine-wave rather than a pure sine-wave. Some active power-factor-corrected power supplies may not accept this waveform, so verify compatibility with your equipment before purchase. This single electrical characteristic determines whether the UPS will reliably support your specific hardware load.

The BR1500GI produces a stepped sine wave at 230 V. Most active PFC units tolerate this waveform, but some sensitive models may trigger overload protection. Test the specific power supply under load to confirm stable operation.
Connect a load to the five battery-backup IEC C13 outlets, pull the IEC-320 C14 input plug, and verify the load stays powered while the distinctive low-battery alarm sounds. The LCD or PowerChute software via USB will also show runtime remaining.
The unit includes a USB cable, RS-232 cable, RJ-11 phone cord, RJ-45 Ethernet cord and two IEC jumper cables for the battery-backup jumpers. You must supply ten IEC C13-to-C14 leads for the ten standard C13 outlets and an IEC C14 mains lead for the input.
