Shipboard Rackmount UPS for Network Gear

The APC Smart-UPS 1.5kVA 120V RM SHIPBOARD is a new rackmount battery backup built for servers, routers, switches and point-of-sale equipment. It accepts 120 V input and delivers 120 V AC output with automatic voltage regulation to correct fluctuations without using battery power.

Six Battery-Backed Outlets Plus Surge-Only Ports

Six NEMA 5-15R receptacles provide battery-backed surge protection for critical loads, while six additional outlets supply surge-only protection for less essential devices. A serial port enables direct management and monitoring integration.

7-Minute Runtime at Full Load With 3-Hour Recharge

The unit delivers approximately 7 minutes of standby power at full 1.5 kVA capacity, limiting its use to short outages or graceful shutdown windows. Full battery recharge requires roughly 3 hours, which constrains readiness for back-to-back power events.

Questions about this item

When will the internal battery need replacement under normal use?

The battery is designed for a typical service life of three to five years; plan replacement when runtime drops below the seven-minute stand-by figure.

What limits continuous operation before the UPS must recharge?

After a full discharge the unit requires a three-hour recharge before it can deliver another seven minutes of battery stand-by.

How much audible noise does the unit produce while running all day in a rack?

The UPS uses a fan that runs continuously during operation; expect a low-level hum typical of 1.5 kVA rack-mount units.
