Apple iPad 2 9.7" Tablet 16GB

This Apple iPad 2 features a 9.7 inch IPS display with 1024 x 768 resolution and 16GB of integrated flash storage. It runs Apple iOS 7 on a dual-core Apple A5 processor clocked at 1 GHz. The tablet includes front and rear cameras rated at 0.7 MP for photos and video chat. Connectivity covers 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 EDR in a black chassis weighing 21.2 oz.

16GB storage and iOS 7

The 16GB capacity holds apps, photos, videos and documents directly on the device without removable media. iOS 7 adds Control Center, AirDrop and improved multitasking for managing that local content. Dual cameras enable FaceTime calls and geotagged images over the wireless connection. The integrated storage amount is fixed and cannot be expanded after purchase.

802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 limits

The 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi supports legacy network bands but does not reach the throughput of newer ac or ax standards. Bluetooth 2.1 EDR pairs with older accessories yet lacks the speed and range of version 4.0 and later. The 30-pin connector limits wired accessories to legacy docks and cables. iOS 7 cannot install current apps that require newer operating system versions.

Questions about this item

Will the 16 GB flash storage need replacement later?

The 16 GB is integrated and not user-replaceable; once full you must offload files or use cloud services instead of swapping the drive.

What limits sustained use first on the Apple A5 1 GHz processor?

The dual-core Apple A5 1 GHz will throttle performance when thermal limits are reached during prolonged heavy workloads.

How hot or noisy does the 9.7" IPS display get when running all day?

The fanless design stays silent; the 9.7" IPS LED-backlit panel and A5 chip generate only modest warmth during continuous operation.
