Apple iPad 2 16GB Wi-Fi tablet

The Apple iPad 2 delivers a 9.7-inch IPS display with a 1024 x 768 resolution at 132 ppi. It runs on an Apple A5 1.00GHz dual-core processor with 512MB DDR2 memory. The 16GB flash storage handles apps and media while iOS 9 provides the operating environment. This Wi-Fi only model suits basic browsing, media playback and light productivity tasks.

Passive thermal design with silent operation

The tablet uses a fanless aluminium chassis that dissipates heat from the Apple A5 chip without any moving parts. Operation remains completely silent during typical use such as web browsing, video streaming at 720p or document viewing. The 30-pin dock connector supports USB 2.0 charging and data transfer. Battery life varies with screen brightness and wireless activity.

Included 30-pin cable enables charging and sync

The package supplies a 30-pin Dock Connector to USB 2.0 cable for connecting to a computer or power adapter. No separate power brick, headphones or protective case are bundled. The front and rear cameras support FaceTime calls and 720p video recording at 30 FPS with audio. A 3.5 mm jack accommodates wired headsets. Bluetooth 2.1 pairs with wireless keyboards or speakers. Buyers needing cellular data, larger storage or a Lightning connector should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 30-pin dock connector cable on this iPad 2?

Align the wide flat side of the 30-pin plug with the port on the bottom edge and press straight in until it seats; the notch on one side prevents upside-down insertion, which is the step most people get wrong.

What maintenance will the 16GB flash storage need over time?

The 16GB flash storage is solid-state with no moving parts, so it requires no mechanical maintenance; keeping at least 1GB free helps the controller manage wear levelling.

At what point does the 512MB DDR2 RAM become the bottleneck during sustained multitasking?

With only 512MB DDR2 RAM, iOS 9 will start aggressively unloading background apps once you switch between three or four memory-heavy apps, causing visible reload delays.
