What this tablet is and who it suits

The 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 provides 16GB of storage and Wi-Fi connectivity in a Space Gray finish. It runs iOS on Apple's A8X processor with 2GB of memory. The Retina IPS LCD display has a 2048 x 1536 resolution and an anti-reflective coating. This device is aimed at users who need a lightweight tablet for everyday browsing, media consumption and light productivity tasks.

Behaviour under sustained load

The tablet uses integrated graphics and a dual-core 2.4GHz processor. The supplier notes 40% faster CPU performance and 2.5 times the graphics performance compared to its predecessor. Under continuous workloads the system manages thermal output within the 0.24-inch thin chassis. Battery life exceeds five hours during typical mixed use, though intensive tasks will reduce that figure.

Installation and common issues

The unit ships with an AC adapter and has been professionally inspected and tested for 100% functionality. Cosmetically the tablets show signs of previous use such as light scratches or spots on the screen. Touch ID fingerprint recognition is included for unlocking and secure purchases. The Wi-Fi only model lacks cellular capability, so buyers needing mobile data should consider that limitation.

Questions about this item

How warm does the A8X chip get and what is the fan noise like during all-day use?

The iPad Air 2 has no fan; its A8X chip runs silently and the aluminium chassis dissipates heat passively.

Which cable and power brick do I need to charge the 16 GB model out of the box?

A Lightning-to-USB cable and the included 12 W USB power adapter are all that are required.

Will my 802.11n router limit the 866 Mbps Wi-Fi speed listed for this tablet?

Yes, the iPad Air 2 falls back to 802.11n rates on an older router, but it still connects and works normally.
