Purpose and audience

The Apple iPad Air MD785LL/A is a 9.7-inch tablet with 16GB storage and 1GB memory running iOS 12. It suits users who need a lightweight iOS device for web browsing, email and media consumption. Buyers who want more storage or cellular connectivity should consider other options.

Thermals noise and power

The A7 1.4 GHz processor handles everyday tasks without active cooling, so the device stays silent in normal use. Battery life exceeds five hours on a single charge for typical mixed workloads. The slim 0.29-inch profile leaves no room for fans or heat pipes.

Deciding specification

The 16GB flash capacity is the single figure that determines whether this iPad fits your needs. Apps, photos and offline media must fit within that space, and the storage cannot be expanded. Choose this model only if 16GB covers your intended library.

Questions about this item

How do I set up this iPad Air MD785LL/A out of the box, and what step do people often miss?

Power it on, choose language and region, then connect to Wi-Fi to activate; the step often missed is signing in with an Apple ID before restoring from a backup.

What component in this iPad Air MD785LL/A will need replacement first, and when?

The sealed lithium-ion battery is the only part that degrades; it is not user-replaceable and will eventually hold less charge after many cycles.

What limit appears first on this iPad Air MD785LL/A during sustained heavy use?

The 1 GB RAM and A7 1.4 GHz processor will throttle performance and force app reloads long before the battery runs down.
