Verify that your carrier supports eSIM activation and the GSM or CDMA bands used in your region. The box includes a USB-C to Lightning cable but no power adapter, so confirm you have a compatible USB-C Power Delivery charger. Ensure your Apple ID can run iOS 16 for the latest Lock Screen and safety features.

Upgrade path

Owners of iPhone 11 or earlier gain the OLED panel, Ceramic Shield, improved low-light photography and Crash Detection. The jump is worth it if you want satellite emergency messaging, Cinematic mode video at 24 fps and MagSafe 15 W wireless charging.
