Protective Packaging Film 48 in x 500 ft

This blue protective packaging film measures 48 inches wide by 500 feet long and features a 4 mil thickness. It uses corrosion-inhibiting VCI technology to safeguard metal parts during storage and transport. The roll weighs 40 pounds and is heat-activated free. It suits industrial packaging operations needing reliable metal protection.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

As a passive packaging material, this film generates no heat, noise, or power draw during use. It requires no electrical connection or mechanical operation to function. The product simply unwraps and covers items to provide a protective barrier. Storage conditions do not affect its performance characteristics.

Corrosion-Inhibiting VCI Technology

The decisive specification is the corrosion-inhibiting VCI chemistry that actively protects metal surfaces from rust. This feature determines suitability for shipping or storing ferrous and non-ferrous components. Buyers who need standard stretch wrap without active corrosion protection should choose a different film type.

Questions about this item

How do I unroll the 48-inch wide film without it tearing or sticking to itself?

Start the roll on a clean, flat surface and pull the film straight out at a low angle; keep tension even so the 4-mil material does not fold back on itself.

When does the blue VCI film need to be replaced during long-term storage?

Replace the roll once the blue colour fades noticeably or after the protected metal parts show any surface oxidation, indicating the corrosion inhibitor is depleted.

What limits how long a single 500-foot roll can protect parts in continuous use?

The 40-pound roll length is the practical limit; when the film runs out the VCI coverage stops, so plan enough footage for the entire storage period.
