What this product is

The Aster Graphics Inc DR-830 is a new black drum unit supplied as a single pack. It is an aftermarket replacement rated for approximately 15000 pages and built to fit Brother printers that use the DR-830 or DR-730 drum. The compatible printer families include DCP-L2640DW, DCP-L2647DW, HL-L2400D, HL-L2405W, HL-L2420DW, HL-L2460DW, HL-L2465DW, HL-L2467DW, HL-L2480DW, HL-L2865DW, MFC-L2760DW, MFC-L2807DW, MFC-L2820DW, MFC-L2900DW and MFC-L2980DW models.

What to check before ordering

Confirm that your printer accepts the DR-830 or DR-730 drum unit by checking the model label or the user manual. The unit is designed to operate between 10 and 30 degrees Celsius with humidity from 20 to 80 percent, so ensure the installation environment stays within those ranges. Storage conditions allow minus 20 to 40 degrees Celsius and the same humidity band, which is relevant if you keep spares on hand. This item is a drum unit only; a separate toner cartridge will still be required for printing.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Offices and home users with the listed Brother mono laser printers who want a high-yield drum replacement at a lower cost than the original brand will find this unit suitable. Buyers who need a colour drum or a toner cartridge instead of a drum unit should look elsewhere. Users whose printers require a different drum model number or who operate outside the stated temperature and humidity limits will not be able to use this product.

Questions about this item

Does the DR-830 drum unit arrive with toner or must I order a TN cartridge separately?

The DR-830 is a drum unit only; toner is not included. You will need a compatible TN cartridge such as the TN-830 or TN-830XL for printing.

The listing mentions DR-730 compatibility — should I choose the DR-830 or DR-730 for my MFC-L2760DW?

The MFC-L2760DW requires the DR-830 drum unit. The DR-730 is listed as a cross-reference but is not the correct part for this printer model.

What does the 15,000-page yield mean for day-to-day printing on an HL-L2460DW?

At 15,000 pages rated yield, the drum should last through several toner cartridges before replacement is needed, depending on actual page coverage and print density.
