ASUS Slim DVD Burner for USB

The ASUS 90-DQ0435-UA128KZ is a slim external DVD burner that connects through a Hi-Speed USB port. It writes DVD+R and DVD-R media at 8X and reads CD-ROM discs at 24X. The drive supports Windows XP, Vista, 7 and macOS 10.5 or later. Its black panel measures 6.2 in by 5.6 in by 0.8 in.

Fits any USB port without internal bay

This unit draws power and data from a single Hi-Speed USB connection so no internal drive bay or separate power adapter is required. The slim 0.8 in profile leaves desk space free and suits laptops or compact desktops that lack an optical drive. It reads and writes CD and DVD formats including dual-layer and RAM media.

Steady speeds for long write sessions

Sustained burning at the rated 8X DVD and 24X CD speeds is maintained by the USB interface without thermal throttling in typical office use. The drive handles sequential DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL writes at 6X for archival batches. It is not suited for buyers who need Blu-ray read or write capability.

Questions about this item

What is the maximum DVD write speed this drive can sustain?

The drive writes DVD+R and DVD-R at 8X, DVD+RW at 8X, DVD-RW at 6X and dual-layer DVD±R DL at 6X.

How much noise or heat does the slim enclosure produce during long burning sessions?

The slim 0.8-inch black chassis relies on passive cooling; the Hi-Speed USB connection draws bus power so no external adapter adds heat.

Which operating system must the host computer already run for the drive to work?

Supported systems are Windows XP, Vista, 7 or macOS 10.5 and later.
