ASUS BW-16D1H-U PRO External Blu-ray Drive

The ASUS BW-16D1H-U PRO is an external optical drive that reads and writes Blu-ray, DVD and CD media. It connects via USB for simple desktop or laptop use. The drive includes password control and encoded file name features for data security. It suits users who need physical media backup or playback.

Security-Focused Optical Storage

This drive suits professionals who require hardware-level encryption for sensitive archives. It is not for buyers who want internal installation or faster transfer speeds than USB allows. Users needing purely cloud-based backup should look elsewhere. Those without any Blu-ray media will not benefit from the format support.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 16× version for Blu-ray backups?

The 16× BD-R write speed is the highest this model offers, so it gives the shortest burn time for large video or data archives.

What does the 16× Blu-ray write speed mean when I am actually burning discs?

It represents the maximum constant angular velocity the drive reaches on the outer track; real-world averages are lower and vary with disc quality.
