Socket & chipset

This ASUS motherboard uses the LGA 1156 socket paired with the Intel P55 chipset. It accepts compatible Intel processors and supports up to 16 GB of DDR3 memory. The ATX form factor fits standard desktop cases.

Build fit

The board requires an LGA 1156 CPU, DDR3 modules and a standard ATX power supply. It provides SATA ports for storage drives and expansion slots for add-in cards. One SATA cable and the rear I/O shield are included in the box.

Upgrade path

This board replaces an older LGA 1156 model that may be faulty or missing accessories. The jump is worth it when a tested, inspected unit with a fresh battery and I/O shield is needed to restore a working system. Builders who need a different socket or newer memory standard should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What is the maximum memory this motherboard can handle?

The board supports up to 16 GB of DDR3 memory across its DIMM slots.

How warm or loud does the board get during continuous operation?

As a motherboard it has no active cooling of its own; temperatures and noise depend on the CPU cooler and case airflow you provide.

Which processor socket must I already have to use this board?

It requires an LGA 1156 processor; the Intel P55 chipset only works with that socket type.
