Combo for high-end AM5 builds

This bundle pairs an ASUS PRIME B850-PLUS WIFI motherboard with an AMD Ryzen 9 9900X processor. The 12-core, 24-thread CPU runs on the Zen 5 architecture and reaches a 5.6 GHz maximum boost clock. It targets enthusiasts building workstations or gaming rigs on the AM5 platform who want DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 readiness in one kit.

DDR5 headroom and storage limits

The board unlocks DDR5 performance through AEMP optimisation and extensive UEFI tuning, supporting memory speeds up to 5600 MT/s and beyond with compatible kits. Three M.2 slots provide room for multiple high-speed drives, while the 8+2+1 phase power design with Digi+ VRM delivers stable current for the 9900X and other Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 series processors. Overclocking headroom exists but scales with cooling capacity and silicon quality.

VRM cooling and acoustic profile

VRM heatsinks and multiple hybrid fan headers manage thermals for the power delivery system under sustained loads. Wi-Fi 6E and 2.5 Gb Ethernet handle networking, while USB 10 Gbps Type-C ports serve fast peripherals. Aura Sync and Addressable Gen 2 headers allow RGB customisation through Armoury Crate, DriverHub and GlideX utilities. The CPU ships without a cooler, so thermal and acoustic results depend on the chosen solution.

Questions about this item

Will the 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X fit this AM5 motherboard without a BIOS update?

The board uses the AM5 socket and the CPU is an AM5 processor, so they are mechanically and electrically compatible out of the box.

What memory speed does the Ryzen 9 9900X officially support and can the board run faster kits?

The processor specifies DDR5-5600 support, while the motherboard provides AEMP and UEFI tuning to run higher-speed DDR5 modules.

Does the processor come with a cooler or must I buy one separately?

The Ryzen 9 9900X is sold without a cooler, so a compatible AM5 CPU cooler is required to complete the build.
