An AM5 motherboard and Ryzen 5 9600X CPU combo with 16+2+2 80A power stages, DDR5 AEMP support, WiFi 7, 2.5Gb Ethernet and four M.2 slots
Motherboard ROG STRIX B850-F GAMING WIFI
CPU + Ryzen 5 9600X
This combo pairs the ASUS ROG STRIX B850-F GAMING WIFI motherboard with an AMD Ryzen 5 9600X processor on the AM5 socket. It supports up to 192GB of DDR5 memory across four 288-pin slots with dual-channel architecture, EXPO and AEMP profiles. The board delivers a 16+2+2 power stage design rated for 80A per stage with dual ProCool connectors, 2.5Gbps LAN, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 for builders targeting modern gaming and AI workloads.
Moving to this B850 chipset from an older AM5 platform adds native PCIe 5.0 support for both the primary x16 slot and two M.2 sockets when using Ryzen 9000 or 7000 series CPUs. The jump is worth it when you need 20Gbps USB Type-C front-panel connectivity, four M.2 slots with substantial heatsinks, and a total of 19 USB ports across the rear and internal headers. AI Advisor and AI Networking II further simplify tuning for multi-core processors.
The ATX board requires a case with standard mounting points and clearance for massive heatsinks with an integrated I/O cover. Dual ProCool power connectors demand a PSU with matching 8-pin cables. Four SATA 6Gb/s ports and two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots share chipset bandwidth, so plan storage layout around the two PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots that connect directly to the CPU. The 7.1-channel ALC4080 audio codec frees up a separate sound card slot.

Other versions of this model
The board uses an ATX form factor with massive heatsinks and an integrated I/O cover, so verify your case lists ATX clearance and that your CPU cooler does not overhang the VRM heatsink area.
Lift the AM5 socket lever, align the triangle on the Ryzen 5 9600X with the socket marker, place the CPU gently without force, lower the lever fully, then apply thermal paste and mount the cooler.
Inspect the VRM thermal pad if you remove the heatsink for cleaning or upgrade; replace it if it shows tears, compression loss, or has dried out after several years of high-load use.
