ROG STRIX B365-F GAMING motherboard

The ROG STRIX B365-F GAMING is an ATX motherboard built around the Intel B365 chipset and the LGA 1151 socket. It accepts 8th and 9th Generation Intel Core, Pentium Gold and Celeron processors. Four DDR4 slots support up to 64 GB of memory at 2666, 2400 or 2133 MHz in dual-channel mode.

Two M.2 slots and six SATA ports

Two M.2 sockets and six SATA 6 Gb/s ports give multiple options for solid-state and hard-disk storage. Intel Optane memory is supported for caching. The board also provides an M.2 E-key slot for a Wi-Fi module. Onboard ROG SupremeFX audio uses the S1220A codec for high-definition output.

Suits mid-range Intel builds needing expansion

This board fits builders who want a full-size ATX layout with dual PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots and three PCI Express x1 slots for add-in cards. It is not intended for platforms that require newer sockets, chipsets or memory standards beyond DDR4 2666.

Questions about this item

Will the S1220A audio codec or the chipset heatsink need replacement down the line?

The S1220A audio codec is soldered to the board and the Intel B365 chipset uses a passive heatsink; neither is a user-serviceable part, so they last the life of the motherboard.

What limit appears first when the LGA 1151 socket runs a 65 W processor all day?

The VRM heatsink temperature is the first limit; sustained full-core loads push the power phases toward their thermal ceiling before the CPU hits its own throttle point.

How loud or hot does the board get when the VRM and M.2 slots run continuously?

With no onboard fans, the board is silent; heat from the VRM and dual M.2 slots rises into the case airflow, so a front intake and rear exhaust keep temperatures in check.
