18-inch WQXGA 240Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 is an 18-inch gaming laptop built around a 2560 x 1600 display running at 240Hz. It targets players and creators who want desktop-class frame rates in a portable chassis.

16-core Ryzen 9 8940HX with RTX 5070 8GB GDDR7

The AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX brings 16 cores and 32 threads with a 5.3 GHz turbo, while the GeForce RTX 5070 supplies 8GB of GDDR7 memory. Together they handle modern titles at high settings, though sustained loads will eventually hit thermal limits in a thin frame.

Dual USB4 Type-C ports and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity

Two USB4 Type-C ports deliver up to 40Gbps each with DisplayPort and G-SYNC support, plus power delivery on one port. HDMI 2.1 FRL, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and a 3.5mm jack round out the I/O, while Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 handle wireless duties.

Questions about this item

Will the HDMI 2.1 FRL port drive a 240 Hz external monitor alongside the built-in 240 Hz panel?

Yes, the HDMI 2.1 FRL port supports high-refresh external displays, so a second 240 Hz monitor can run at its native rate while the internal 18" WQXGA 240 Hz screen stays active.

How can I verify the Ryzen 9 8940HX is hitting its 5.3 GHz boost during gameplay?

Open Task Manager or a monitoring tool such as HWiNFO and watch the CPU clock column; sustained readings at or near 5.3 GHz confirm the processor is boosting as specified.

Which cables or adapters are included for the two USB4 Type-C ports?

The box contains the laptop, power adapter and documentation only; any USB4 cables, docks or DisplayPort adapters must be purchased separately.
