Compact handheld PC for Windows gaming

The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X RC73XA is a 7.0 inch Windows 11 Home device built around an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor with 8 cores and 16 threads. Integrated AMD Radeon graphics drive the 1920 x 1080 IPS touch panel at 120 Hz. The system ships with 24 GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 4 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD installed by the builder.

Suits players who want a pocketable Windows machine

The 1.58 lb chassis and 1.08 inch profile make it practical for travel and couch play, while the 5.0 GHz maximum turbo frequency and 24 MB cache handle demanding titles. Buyers who need a larger display, discrete GPU, or user-replaceable memory should look at conventional gaming laptops instead.

Fits a minimal desk setup with dock or hub

The integrated SSD and soldered memory leave no internal slots, so storage expansion relies on external drives. A USB-C dock can add monitor, keyboard, and wired network connections for a stationary session. The 120 Hz touchscreen works as a second input surface when the unit is docked.

Questions about this item

What Windows version must I already have to run games on this ROG Xbox Ally X RC73XA?

The unit ships with Windows 11 Home pre-installed, so no separate licence or earlier Windows version is required to start gaming.

Will my existing USB-C dock work with the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme platform in this Ally X?

The system uses standard USB-C signalling, so any dock that follows the USB-C specification will provide video, data and power passthrough.

How can I confirm the 120 Hz panel is actually running at 120 Hz after first boot?

Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and verify the refresh-rate dropdown shows 120 Hz for the built-in 7-inch FHD touchscreen.
