VivoBook 15 S513 Ryzen 7 laptop

The ASUS VivoBook 15 S513 is a thin-and-light laptop built around an 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 4700U processor with a 15.6 inch Full HD NanoEdge display. It ships with Windows 10 in S mode and includes a fingerprint reader integrated into the trackpad.

Suits portable productivity buyers.

This configuration fits buyers who want an eight-core CPU, Wi-Fi 6 and a 1 TB PCIe SSD in a 3.97 lb chassis for office work or study. Users who need more than 16 GB of RAM or a touchscreen should look at other models because the memory ceiling is fixed at 16 GB and the panel is non-touch.

1 TB PCIe SSD decides storage fit

The single specification that determines suitability is the 1 TB PCIe solid-state drive, which provides the only internal storage on this unit. There is no hard-drive bay and no second M.2 slot mentioned in the data, so anyone needing a secondary drive or larger capacity must choose a different laptop.

Questions about this item

What are the exact dimensions I need to clear for the 15.6 inch chassis?

The laptop measures 14.2 x 9.3 x 0.73 inches and weighs 3.97 lbs, so allow that footprint plus a small gap for hinge movement and port cables.

Which screws and clips must be released to reach the single DDR4 SO-DIMM slot, and what is the common mistake?

Remove all ten base screws, then pry the bottom cover from the front edge; the frequent error is forcing the cover before the hidden clips near the hinge release, which snaps the plastic.

When will the 42 WHr 3-cell battery typically need replacement, and what capacity should the replacement have?

Expect 2–3 years of daily cycling before runtime drops below 80 %; replace with another 42 WHr 3-cell lithium-ion pack to match the original form factor and charge controller.
