ThinkPad L14 Gen 2 AMD laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 2 AMD laptop is a 14.0 inch business notebook with a non-touch Full HD display. It runs Windows 11 Pro on a Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U six-core processor reaching 4.2 GHz turbo. Integrated graphics handle the 1920 x 1080 panel while 8 GB memory and a 256 GB SSD cover everyday workloads.

Upgrade from older dual-core ultraportables

Moving from a dual-core machine to this six-core Ryzen chip adds headroom for multitasking and heavier web apps. The jump is worth it when current hardware stutters on video calls or large spreadsheets. Buyers who need discrete graphics or user-replaceable memory should look elsewhere.

Standard clamshell service access

The chassis opens with typical ThinkPad screws for SSD or Wi-Fi module changes. Memory is soldered so capacity cannot be increased later. Wireless uses 802.11ac and Bluetooth for dock or peripheral connections. Integrated webcam covers conferencing without extra hardware.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.0 inch chassis accept a 2.5 inch drive bay or only the M.2 256GB SSD?

The laptop ships with a 256GB M.2 SSD and has no 2.5 inch bay, so storage upgrades must use the M.2 slot.

What is the correct order to install the Windows 11 Pro updates and AMD chipset drivers after first boot?

Run Windows Update until no further updates appear, then download the AMD Ryzen chipset driver from Lenovo support and install it before any optional driver packs.

Which components can be upgraded later — the 8GB memory or the integrated graphics?

The 8GB memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded; the graphics are integrated into the Ryzen processor and are also not replaceable.
