Flash-optimised 12-bay NAS

The ASUSTOR FS6712X is a desktop network-attached storage device built exclusively for M.2 2280 NVMe drives. Twelve PCIe slots accept up to 48TB of flash capacity, while a quad-core Intel Celeron N5105 processor and 4GB of DDR4-2933 memory handle file serving, backup and media streaming.

Suited for all-flash deployments

This unit fits users who want a compact, silent NAS populated entirely with NVMe drives and who can work within the 16GB memory ceiling. It is not for buyers who need 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch drive bays, more than two USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 ports, or expansion cards beyond the M.2 slots provided.

Twelve M.2 NVMe slots define capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the twelve M.2 2280 PCIe interfaces; they set the maximum drive count, the 48TB raw limit and the flash-only architecture. All other features scale from this slot count.

Questions about this item

Which M.2 2280 NVMe drives are needed to populate the 12 slots?

You must supply twelve M.2 2280 NVMe drives; the unit ships diskless and max capacity reaches 48 TB when all bays are filled.

Can the 10 GbE port and HDMI 2.0b output work together with older 1 GbE switches and 1080p displays?

Yes, the 10 GbE port auto-negotiates down to 1 GbE and the HDMI 2.0b output scales to 1080p, so legacy network gear and monitors remain usable.

How can I confirm the Intel Celeron N5105 is transcoding 4K smoothly after setup?

Play a 4K test file through the ASUSTOR media app and watch CPU usage stay low while playback remains stutter-free on the HDMI-connected screen.
