The ATEN CE920 is a USB DisplayPort HDBaseT 2.0 KVM extender designed for professional AV installations that require a single computer to be controlled from a remote console up to 100 metres away. It transports video, audio, USB, RS-232 and Ethernet signals over one Cat6, Cat6a or ATEN 2L-2910 cable. The metal-housed local and remote units each measure 1.13 by 4.80 by 7.17 inches and weigh 1.39 lbs and 1.41 lbs respectively.

4K video reach and fallback

The extender delivers 4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz 4:4:4 up to 90 metres on Cat5e and 100 metres on Cat6 or better, while 1080p signals reach the full 100 metres on any supported cable grade. Beyond those distances the link will not maintain the stated resolutions, so runs longer than 100 metres are outside the guaranteed operating window. Power draw is 3.99 W at the local unit and 6.74 W at the remote unit.

HDBaseT 2.0 single-cable boundary

HDBaseT 2.0 defines the maximum single-cable reach at 100 metres, which sets the hard limit for this extender regardless of cable quality. The standard also caps 4K transport at 30 Hz 4:4:4, so higher refresh rates or deeper colour formats cannot be carried. Installations needing longer runs, 60 Hz 4K or fibre transport must adopt a different technology.
